On Saturday September 17th‚ seven POPB volunteers put in a full day of work helping out Indigo Rescue. The president of Indigo uses her home as a sanctuary for many of the rescued cats who, for one reason or another, are having trouble finding their forever home. The cats were living in a room attached to the house, waiting for the day that we showed up to help create a big outdoor area for them to play in.
POPB's job was to install chain link fence to enclose about 1500 square feet of yard for the cats. We then attached cat fence, which consists of brackets pointing inward and upward at a 45 degree angle with soft loose netting attached. This creates a barrier that the cats can't climb over, enabling them to be out in the yard during the day without escaping. They then return indoors at night for additional safety.
The cats have begun exploring their new territory and look like they are enjoying it! This fenced area triples their available space and gives them lots of room to play out in a more natural setting while keeping them safe from the many hazards of urban living. POPB and Indigo Rescue want to extend millions of thanks to all the volunteers who helped make this happen!
