PGE Park Part 2 Kitty Cabana

May 12 was move-in day for 17 feral cats originally living around the Beaverton Mall. Due to the Mall's inability to provide a home for them they needed to find a new home.

Relocating feral cats is a hard situation and in most cases not recommended. The optimum place for them is where they currently live. However all other possibilities have been exhausted for these displaced felines, and PGE Park is prepared to care for and provide these kitties with a new home.

PGE Park funded the homeless cats spay/neuter operations and vaccinations, and they set aside an area to house the cats for the required time period. The relocated cats must be confined to their new area for 5-6 weeks; this allows the kitties to get comfortable and familiar with their new home. If set free earlier they will take off and attempt to return to their former home.

To make these cats comfortable they need to be housed in a large cat playpen and this is where POPB comes in. We built a kitty habitat for them!

The area that PGE Park set aside for them is nice and private, nestled in an area behind the outfield. We created a doorway and roof to enclose the area. We built two large catnap hotels and an off-the-ground feeding station. Many thanks to the staff of PGE Park for their compassion and long-time support of their feline friends, and also to Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon and Friends of Shelter Animals for their participation in this project.
