Visit the Senior Dog Rescue SiteThe Senior Dog Rescue of Oregon requested POPB's assistance on a very special project. SDRO is a network of foster homes and volunteers that rescue older dogs and find good homes for them. One of their foster parents, Heather, is the one they go to when they have a dog that is determined to be terminal and unable to be placed in a forever home. Heather takes these dogs in and allows them to live out their lives with love, dignity and comfort.

She needed some help with repairs and maintenance to make her home more comfortable, safe and fun for the dogs. POPB visited her on June 19th. We brought in eight volunteers and in less than six hours, completed all the tasks that had been requested, including:

  • layed new carpet tiles that are easily cleaned and replaced.
  • Added wooden fencing for additional security and privacy in the yard.
  • Pulled up overgrowth in the yard and laid a path of bark for the dogs to run on.
  • Hung mirrors to bring more light into the main room where the dogs spend most of their time

There were four very sweet rescued dogs living with her, and they kept us company as we worked, played and snacked on some delightful treats provide by Heather.

SDRO was grateful for our assistance, but we want to thank them. Our day's work is nothing compared to the wonderful work that Heather and all of the SDRO volunteers do every day!
